Summary

2025 DA62 SurveyStar delivery position available, provided by Air Bear Tactical Aircraft. Welcome to the best-in-class aerial survey platform flying today.

With its high payload capacity and safe & economical operation, the DA62-MPP Surveystar sets the standard for aerial survey platforms, now and into the future.

Air Bear is the exclusive factory authorized MPP distributor for the USA. Deliveries to select OCONUS customer's may be available by special factory dispensation.
Airframe

Designed to FAA Amendment 54 & 55 crashworthiness standards, the DA62 is one of the safest light twin aircraft flying.

Engine(s)

Twin Austro AE330 diesels provide gratifying performance in difficult conditions. Hot and high? No problem, the hot weather kit is standard. Single engine climb? Like nothing you've experienced in a light twin.
The AE330's truly make this the aircraft for littoral patrol, low level/unhospitable terrain and night operations, while outperforming anything in the sky for daylight operations.
Sipping Jet-A at 45% power requires a mere 9.0 gph Throttling back to 40% power provides 7.6 gph fuel burn. Total. Yes, that is correct, 7.6 gph, total fuel burn.
The DA62-MPP stands alone as the most cost effective ISR aircraft in its class. There are no concerns about lead with jet fuel for power. Custom on top exhaust stacks keep the aircraft a friendly neighbor, with a very low noise footprint.

Prop Details

Dual MT 3-bladed, auto-feathering propellers, model #MTV-6-R-C-F/CF194-80. Single lever, FADEC control.

APU Details

The SurveyStar provides a third 28V/100A alternator and mission bus to power your LIDAR/survey equipment. A 4th alternator is also provided when the available A/C option is configured.

One thing you are never short on with the DA62-MPP is available power!

Interior Details

The roomy fuselage provides an ergonomically optimized cabin for two pilots, operator station and plenty of cabin volume for mission equipment and gear.

The operator station is ergonomically designed, tailored for the needs of the operator and modular for 1 or 2 operators. Mission equipment can be held in the luggage compartment through hard points and/or a custom designed equipment rack.

Additionally, the SurveyStar may be configured with a 20" survey hatch, providing for LIDAR or large format camera mounting in the cabin. There also is a custom retraction system designed by Air Bear for EO/IR sensors or other equipment which may benefit from mounting on a retraction mechanism.

The advantages of the SurveyStar truly make it a best in class tool for your aerial LIDAR/Survey needs.

Maintenance Status

Factory trained and authorized service centers are located around the nation. Take advantage of one (or more) for all Mx, or just for your heavy maintenance needs.

Train your A&P staff to perform your routine Mx via factory instructor led web-based training, or onsite factory training. Parts and factory support are provided by the London, Ontario factory, located in the Eastern Time Zone.

You can also take advantage of the tip to tail, power by the hour program available from Piston Power. Similar to programs provided by JSSI for turbine aircraft, Piston Power is the world's first piston engine aircraft maintenance program.

All scheduled, unscheduled and AOG maintenance and parts are covered for one low hourly fee. Engines are also covered during the swap at TBO (1,800 hours or before if necessary).

Please see the Piston Power website for more details.

Features/Options

In cooperation with DAI's partners, Vexcel Imaging, IGI, Somag as well as RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems, Diamond created a cost effective, modern state-of-the-art survey configuration - the DA62 SurveyStar.

The extraordinary low noise signature of the aircraft, supported by the on-top exhaust systems, in combination with the low fuel burn fits perfectly to the idea to operate silently and environmentally friendly.

Easily incorporate LIDAR, Aerial Survey/Photography, Pipeline/Powerline, CH4 detection and many other payloads to fly missions which are safely and cost-effectively accomplished by the SurveyStar.

Endurance:
Equipped in the multi-sensor setup including the Riegl VQ-780i and the Vexcel Ultracam Eagle M3, an endurance of 7:17 hours was achieved with fuel remaining for almost two more hours, resulting in a max total endurance of 8:20 hours + 0:45 hours of reserve.

Autonomy:
With the help of the three-axis digital autopilot, procedures have been developed to allow your aircraft to fly survey missions almost fully autonomously; thereby reducing crew workload dramatically.

Efficiency:
Due to the extremely low fuel burn of the jet-fuel engines, efficiency is that good, that the aircraft can even compete with turbine powered aircraft in high and fast missions. When the flight takes longer due to lower speeds, the cost below the line are far cheaper when compared with classical turbo-prop aircraft.

SurveyStar: Best in class airborne survey platform.
