LOUISVILLE, Ky. – GlobalAir.com, a web-based provider of resources for the private aviation industry, has announced its four Calvin L. Carrithers Scholarship recipients for the 2023-24 school year. For the first time since the program launched in 2015, all of the recipients are women. Aviation has long been a male-dominated field and many companies within the industry have worked to boost gender diversity among pilots and aviation professionals.

The scholarship process is entirely merit based, focusing on a student’s achievements, a personal essay and a letter from a recommendation. Eligibility is open to all U.S. residents attending an accredited program at an aviation college or university within the country.

This year's winners are Jadyn Miller-Klein, an Aeronautical Science major at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Reagan Shaar, a Professional Flight Technology and Chinese Language Studies student at Purdue University; Gracie McShea, an Aeronautics major at Kent State University; and Maddie Moles, also a student at Embry-Riddle. It is the second year for Moles to be awarded a scholarship from GlobalAir.com.

“Once again, we had tremendous interest in our scholarship program, with many aspiring pilots applying,” said GlobalAir.com President and CEO Jeffrey Carrithers. “We consider ourselves fortunate to be able to sponsor these future pilots and to being able to help even more students in the coming years. Congratulations to all four of these women as they work hard to represent not only GlobalAir.com but the aviation industry at large. We cannot wait to see what they accomplish.

The Calvin L. Carrithers Aviation Scholarship pays $1,000 to each of the students over the course of the school year. The recipients contribute to a blog about their journeys, documenting their experiences throughout their aviation education. Past recipients of the scholarship have embarked on careers as corporate and commercial pilots, among other fields. The application window for next year’s scholarship program opens in March.
