Pilots can vote for five-star service
Online aviation leader GlobalAir.com deploys FBO rating system

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Aviators can now rate their experiences when shopping for fixed-based operators (FBOs) at https://www.globalair.com. The five-star rating system provides quick, easy feedback for users when comparing fuel prices or reviewing weather conditions with GlobalAir.com’s Airport Resource Center (ARC).
The system does not permit comments. However, rating scores will be averaged on the site, ranking from one-to-five stars. Users can rate an FBO on whether it has clean facilities, gives quality customer service, has competitive fuel prices and provides good line service. Additionally, users can rate the excellence of an FBO’s pilot amenities.
Five FBOs with the best scores will be honored by GlobalAir.com during the annual National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention in October 2010.
Jeff Carrithers, the company’s President and CEO, said the rating system allows consumers in the aircraft industry to evaluate an FBO fairly “without being super critical because of a cup of cold coffee.”
“It’s fast. It’s easy. It’s not time consuming,” he said. “It’s another quality enhancement to provide the best information available. Pilots, flight departments, schedulers and dispatchers can make smart decisions on the locations to where they wish to fly.”
GlobalAir.com is a single-stop site for aviators, providing real-time fuel and airport information, along with aircraft sales listings.
The five-star rating system is part of GlobalAir.com’s ARC, which provides airport information, terminal procedures, Navids, Notams, METAR, weather and FBO listings. The service launched in 2003 and features frequently updated information for more than 2,100 FBOs in the United States and its territories. The database can be accessed online at https://www.globalair.com/airport.
