Gulfstream G550 Description

The Gulfstream G550 private jet aircraft is produced by General Dynamics Gulfstream Aerospace unit, located in Savannah, Georgia. It is the company’s second-largest business jet, after the G650. Beginning production in 2003, Gulfstream has built 580+ aircraft as of June 2019.

The Gulfstream G550 is equipped to fly on intercontinental trips and is still capable of taking off from short runways at high altitude airports. With its extended range, the G550 easily links Washington, D.C. with Dubai, London with Singapore, and Tokyo with Paris non-stop. Known for its superior dispatch reliability, this aircraft surpasses other manufactures when it comes time for a mission-critical trip. It can be configured with four zone living areas that can seat up to 19 passengers with a maximum payload of 6,200 lb in certain conditions. Powered by enhanced Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines, the G550 has a range of 6,750 nm at 533 knots and a high-speed cruise capability of 580 knots. G550 aircraft are equipped with the PlaneView® avionics suite, which consists of four Honeywell DU-1310 EFIS screens, a Gulfstream-designed cursor control system, and an Enhanced Vision System (EVS). High-speed Jet ConneX boosts productivity inside the cabin.

Among other aircraft, the Gulfstream G550 private jet competes with Bombardier’s Global 7500 and Dassault Falcon 8X. North America has the largest percentage of G550 aircraft with 52%, while Asia holds 24%. An additional 18% is operated in Europe, and 39% are in fleet ownership.
